Elegant Eeyore.
To quote one of my most beloved childhood companions, “This writing business. Pencils and whatnot. Overrated, if you ask me. Silly stuff. Nothing in it.” Sometimes I think of this quote when I get stuck in a writing rut – it reminds me not to take myself so seriously.
But when I found this stunning suit (circa 1959) at an antique store in Hyde Park, I knew it was something worth taking seriously. I tried it on and immediately thought it made me look like an elegant Eeyore. Considering how often I feel a bit (or a lot) like him, I knew it was for me.
“Thanks for noticin’…..”
Wool suit: Carlson Originals, circa 1959 (U.S. Union Made – yay!) And yes, that is a mink collar….! Leather boots: Not sure on the brand or where I got them, but they do have a “made in Canada” tag – yay again!
I just love the fitting on this jacket – the waist is gorgeous. And those little cuff bows are pretty precious, too.
Earrings: Black pearls given to me by my lovely mother Necklaces: My great-grandmother’s pearls, purchased at Saks 5th Avenue (ooh, fancy) sometime in the 20’s & my grandmother’s silver beads (not sure where she got them). I love wearing this combo – 4 generations of my family represented in this shot!
Bracelet: Sergio Collection Ring: Gold, diamond, and elk ivory – custom-made by Glade Davies Clutch: Beautiful bakelite number, once owned by my manfriend’s grandmother.
